IOC says rule banning protests will remain in place at 2021 Tokyo Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed that athletes are still banned from protesting at the Olympic Games after several sports decided to allow protests in the wake of George Floyd's death.

Suarez Back In Training For Cup Final

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has returned to training with his team mates, suggesting he will be able to play a part in Saturday’s King’s Cup final against Athletic Bilbao after two weeks out with a hamstring problem.
The Uruguay international sustained the injury in the Champions League semi-final, second leg at Bayern Munich and missed Barca’s final two La Liga games, including the 1-0 win at Atletico Madrid when they secured a fifth title in seven years.

Oshoala Scoops BBC Women’s Player Of The Year Award

Super Falcons’ forward Asisat Oshoala has been named the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Women’s Player of the Year.
Oshoala, who plays her club football for Liverpool Ladies FC of England, was presented with the award on Monday evening after the international friendly game between Nigeria and Canada at the Kia Training Ground, Toronto, which ended 0-0.

Arrests, Raids In Zurich As FIFA Faces Corruption Probes

Pressure mounted on football’s ruling body FIFA Wednesday as police detained six football officials in Zurich on US bribery charges.
Prosecutors also seized FIFA documents in a separate probe over the 2018 and 2022 World Cup decisions.
The separate but coordinated investigations came shortly before the expected re-election of FIFA president Joseph Blatter, who seeks a fifth term on Friday in spite of criticism of FIFA’s governance.
The Switzerland Federal Prosecution Authority said it had collected electronic files and documents at FIFA headquarters in Zurich.

Luis Figo pulls out of FIFA presidency race

Former Portuguese international Luis Figo withdrew from the race to succeed Sepp Blatter as FIFA president on Thursday, firing a bitter broadside at the election campaign.
Figo’s decision came just hours after Dutchman Michael van Praag had announced that he too was dropping his bid and would throw his support behind Jordan’s Prince Ali bin al Hussein.

Fabregas suspension reduced to one match

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas’s suspension for kicking the ball at West Bromwich Albion’s Chris Brunt has been reduced from three matches to one, the Football Association announced on Wednesday.
Fabregas was shown a straight red card during Chelsea’s 3-0 Premier League loss at West Brom on Monday after drilling the ball at a crowd of players and hitting Brunt in the face during a break in play in the 29th minute.
